Back at RubyConf

RubyConf India 2025 wrapped up recently, and what an event it was!

With a footfall of around 250 passionate Rubyists, this year’s event felt more connected, and more community-driven than ever before.

For us at RailsFactory, being a silver sponsor once again was both a privilege and a proud moment. A team of seven of us traveled to attend the event, representing not just our company, but our ongoing commitment to the Ruby on Rails ecosystem that has been at the heart of our journey for over 19 years.

The two-day event in Jaipur has perfectly balanced learning and celebration, packed with high-energy talks, cultural experiences, and countless conversations. What made it even special was meeting old friends from the Ruby circle, catching up over shared stories, and welcoming a new generation of developers into the fold.

Taking the Stage

We had several reasons to cheer this year.

Our teammate Sameer Kumar took the spotlight with his talk on “Ruby DSL: Write Code That Looks Like English and Works Like Magic”. His session dived into Ruby’s elegant syntax and its potential for building domain-specific languages that read almost like natural language but perform with precision. The crowd’s response was incredible, and the discussion that followed was full of curiosity and enthusiasm.

We were also proud to see our teammate Chaitali Khangar, an active member of the Ruby on Rails community, contribute as part of the organizing team this year. Seeing her efforts behind the scenes made us appreciate how much work and passion goes into pulling off an event on this scale.

And we didn’t stop there. Two of our engineers took part in the lightning talk sessions, each delivering quick, punchy insights that sparked great conversations:

  • Atmaram introduced our in-house testing automation tool, Sedstart, a talk that caught everyone’s attention for its practical take on simplifying testing workflows.

  • Yuvraj followed with his lightning talk on topic “Performance Is a Feature: Building a Culture That Cares”, offering a concise but powerful perspective that got nods of appreciation from the audience.

The Event Vibe

The overall vibe at RubyConf 2025 was simply unforgettable. This year’s edition had a distinct Rajasthani flavor from the décor and music to the food and cultural touches, everything was steeped in local charm. The colorful backdrops, traditional art installations, and the aroma of authentic cuisine added a festive warmth to the technical sessions.

Western attendees were also given special menu options to make them feel at home, which reflected the organizers’ thoughtful attention to inclusivity. The entire organizing team truly outdid themselves, combining world-class professionalism with the warmth of Indian hospitality.

Booth Buzz: Ruby Collector and StarSnaps

Our booth quickly turned into a hotspot of excitement with the two interactive games we designed especially for RubyConf: Ruby Collector and StarSnaps.

The Ruby Collector game became the center of attention, drawing large crowds eager to test their knowledge, compete with peers, and climb the leaderboard. The enthusiasm was contagious! People cheered for each other and celebrated small wins with big smiles. Watching people play, laugh, and get competitive was one of the best parts of the event for us.

Besides, we also had the joy of rewarding the top three winners with special gifts. For us, the booth wasn’t just about swag, it was about creating moments of connection and fun that reflected the collaborative spirit of Ruby on Rails community itself.

Conversations, Connections, and Cameras

One of the best parts of RubyConf is always the people. This year, we got to reconnect with many familiar faces and meet new developers, contributors, and community builders from across India and beyond.

Many attendees were especially excited to meet some of the most awaited speakers that they’ve followed online and admired for years. Seeing those interactions up close was pure joy and the mix of awe, gratitude, and genuine curiosity which only a strong community like Ruby’s can offer.

Our Ruby on Rails developers also took the opportunity to interview several Indian and international speakers. They were open, witty, and refreshingly candid, sharing insights on Ruby’s future, their favorite frameworks, and even answering a few of our offbeat questions with good humor. Those short interviews are now some of our favorite memories, and we’ve been having fun sharing them with our community on social media.

Spotlight Moments

If there was one recurring theme across many sessions, it was AI and machine learning. From new tools to integrations and automation, speakers explored how Ruby continues to evolve to stay relevant in this space.

One session that especially stood out was by Anderz, whose talk drew more attention and a highly interactive crowd. The audience was buzzing with curiosity, asking thoughtful questions, sharing perspectives, and applauding key takeaways. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were truly contagious.

Signing Off

Looking back, RubyConf India 2025 had everything that makes this community so special from learning, and laughter to culture and collaboration. Whether it was Sameer’s talk, Chaitali’s work behind the scenes, our contributions to lightning sessions, or the joyful chaos at our booth, every moment reminded us why we love being part of this ecosystem.

We came home from Jaipur with new ideas, stronger relationships, and an even deeper appreciation for the global Ruby family. The two days flew by, but the memories and momentum will last a lot longer.

That’s a wrap, RubyConf!

See you next year with even more energy!
